Dr. Heather Yost was born and raised in Elk Horn, IA and returned back to central Iowa in 2003 after going to Chiropractic school in St. Louis. The decision to move to Des Moines stemmed from her desire to live near family and be a resource on health and wellness to the families of Central Iowa. She believes that each individual deserves the chance to experience health and happiness, live a life of abundance and enjoy each and every day!
She completed her undergraduate studies at the Iowa State University where she received a Bachelor's in Exercise and Sports Science. For her Doctoral studies, she attended Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, Missouri. There she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and her Doctorate in Chiropractic. While at Logan she extended her studies outside the regular curriculum with post-graduate studies in nutrition, pregnancy and pediatrics, acupuncture, and balancing female hormones . She also served in the Post Graduate department, working at various seminars throughout the year.
Outside of her office Dr. Heather leads the same lifestyle she encourages her patients to lead. She is an avid runner, having completed 2 marathons, 6 half-marathons, and 5 day runs. Dr. Heather lives the chiropractic lifestyle, knowing that the health comes from the inside out. Health is achieved and maintained through prevention of problems. In her household, proper nutrition and exercise is key. Even her twin girls, Ava and Gavyn (5.5 years old) and son, Kallen (2), are taught about the body and how to keep it as healthy as possible. They love getting their power turned on with their adjustments.
Dr. Heather is active within the community. She is a member of Urbandale Chamber of Commerce, ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network), HMN (Holistic Moms Network), Le Leche League, the National Association of Women's Business Owner's, W.O.W (Women of Worth) and BNI (Business Networking International). Dr. Heather has also introduced her Community Outreach Program to Urbandale and surrounding communities. This program allows her to get into businesses, daycares, banks, and schools to educate others on optimizing their health and living a life of significance. Dr. Heather is a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
Patients point of view:
“I'm grateful that I was referred to Yost Family Chiropractic. From the first day I entered your doors, I've felt like I've been listened to, educated, and cared for. That is a rare experience in any business, and I wanted you to know how special your staff really is. Thank you for all that you do!”
“I KNOW that my life has been changed for the better! Having been apprehensive before I can honestly say I will always turn to chiropractic care as a first option in the future; in particular Dr Heather Yost.”
“Additionally, it was very impressive how sympathetic you and your staff were to me on a personal level. Rarely does a person see that level of empathy in today’s health field. The entire office environment was above and beyond what I expected. Immediately when I walked in the door I was put at ease with warm smiles and open arms.”
“For various reasons, along with the obvious, I thank the Lord Jesus for the blessings I have received since I made initial contact with Dr. Yost and her staff.
Oh yes, unlike any of my prior personal experiences with chiropractic care, I truly enjoy how family and child-oriented Dr. Yost, herself, is and the openness of the office.”
